About the Doctor:    Dr Rakshith Shetty is a highly qualified and reputed Neurosurgeon specialized in both Brain and Spine surgeries. He has an overall 17 years of tremendous experience in treating Neurosurgical problems. He finished his direct 5 years MCh training available only for the top 3 candidates in the country from the elite neurosciences institute NIMHANS, Bangalore. NIMHANS is an Ivy League world class institution. It is the number one high volume institution for Neurosciences in the country performing around 6000 to 7000 brain and spine surgeries a year. Dr Rakshith was mentored by the stalwarts of Neurosurgery in NIMHANS.

Following his MCh training , he finished his United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) in flying colours. He completed his USMLE Step 1, Step2CK, Step2CS (in Los Angeles) and Step3 (in Washington) with distinction and obtained ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) certification. He was later selected (available only for one candidate in a year) for the most sought after fellowship programs in the world under the mentorship of the legendary Dr Laligam Sekhar. Dr Laligam Sekhar, Professor and Vice Chairman,  University of Washington, Seattle is a world renowned Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Neurosurgeon. Dr Rakshith was taught and trained by the best in the field of Neurosurgery. He completed his International Fellowship in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Neurosurgery in Seattle for a period of one and a half year. During his stay in Seattle, he learnt safe and novel approaches to Brain stem Cavernomas, Complex and Giant Aneurysms and Vascular Bypasses. His training also included Scientific meetings, Publications, Cadaveric Workshops, Robotic research and NIH (National Institute of Health) funded stem cell trial on optic nerves in laboratory Mice.

Following his intense and world class training , he returned to his home town Mangalore to rejoin AJ hospital. He has performed around 4000 brain and spine operations with favourable outcomes in a career spanning more than one and a half decade. He has 14 Publications in Indexed journals , 2 textbook chapters and International conference presentations. He is a member of AANS (American Association of Neurological Surgeons), CNS (Congress of Neurological Surgeons) and NSI (Neurological Society of India).
