"Vriddhi" 9 Elderly Engagement Programme

The Vriddhi - 9 Elderly Engagement Programme held on 24th July 2024 was enriching event aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of elderly participants through a series of informative talks, health checkups, and engaging activities. The health assessments covered evaluations of blood pressure (BP), sugar levels, body mass index (BMI), and nutritional status. Moreover, physiotherapy assessments were conducted for the attendees.
Programme was hosted by Ms. Ancita, Lecturer, Ms. Neha, and Mr. Varun B K, Student of AJIHM College.
Highlights:
- Service Display & Information Sessions: The event commenced with a warm welcome, followed by a display of services of hospital by the Mrs. Sanmathi, CRO and distribution of the Geriatric Care Brochure.
- Health Talk: Dr. Manjunath B V, a Consultant Cardiologist, delivered an insightful talk on heart health, emphasizing the importance of knowing one's heart condition. The talk was followed by an engaging discussion session where participants clarified their concerns.
- Breathing Exercises: Dr. Bhavana from Sharada Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital conducted a session on breathing exercises for elderly members, promoting relaxation and overall wellbeing.
- Emotional Wellbeing Talk: Dr. Rameela Shekar, Mental Health Professional, provided valuable insights into emotional wellbeing, addressing mental health issues commonly faced by the elderly. The interactive discussion that followed allowed participants to express their thoughts and seek advice. After Dr. Rameela's talk, Dr. Amitha Marla presented her with a memento as a token of appreciation. Buddy Programme certificates were distributed to the students of AJIHM recognizing their efforts by Dr. Rameela Shekar, Dr. Amitha Marla, DMA, AJHRC, Mr. Mohanraj, Mr. Jeradin, PAGE and Mrs. Vijaya, Principal, AJIHM.
- The Canara Bank Branch Manager addressed the attendees, highlighting the facilities available for senior citizens at the bank, which was highly informative and beneficial.
- Celebrations and Entertainment: The programme included a celebration of the July birthdays, creating a joyous atmosphere. Elderly members showcased their talents through singing and dancing, bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.
The health checkup for elders continued, ensuring that participants received necessary medical attention. Overall, the Vriddhi – 9 Elderly Engagement Programme successful by providing valuable health and emotional wellbeing information, and ensured the participants had a memorable and enjoyable experience.
